SAFETY &
PRODUCT CARE

Simple tips to use, store, and enjoy your GlōTerrapy essentials with confidence — including best practices for sensitive skin, patch testing, ingredient awareness, storage and shelf life, and everyday safety tips for bath, body, and home rituals.

Safety & Product Care

Because our products are handcrafted in small batches with natural ingredients, a little extra care helps keep them fresh, safe, and performing their best. This page covers easy best practices for using and storing your products, plus important safety notes like patch testing, ingredient awareness, and what to do if irritation happens — for skin, bath, and home essentials.

  1. Before You Use Any Product

Patch test first. Everyone’s skin is different — and even natural ingredients can cause sensitivity. Before using a new product, apply a small amount to the inside of your arm and wait 24 hours. If irritation occurs, discontinue use. Always review the ingredient list before purchasing and before use, especially if you have allergies or sensitive skin. GlōTerrapy products are intended for external use only unless a product page clearly states otherwise.

  2. Skin Safety Basics

Avoid contact with eyes. If product gets into your eyes, rinse thoroughly with water. Unless a product is specifically intended for that purpose, avoid using it on broken skin, open cuts, or inflamed areas. If you experience redness, itching, burning, swelling, or discomfort, discontinue use. If symptoms persist, consult a healthcare professional. Results vary based on skin type, sensitivities, environment, and consistent use, and we cannot guarantee specific results for every person.

  3. Natural Products, Real-Life Variation

Because our products are handcrafted in small batches using natural ingredients, slight variations in color, scent, texture, and appearance are normal and part of what makes each batch unique. Temperature can also affect texture — natural butters and oils may soften or melt in heat and become firmer in cooler temperatures.

  4. Product Care and Storage

Store products in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. To help prevent contamination, use clean, dry hands or a clean scoop and avoid introducing water into jars (especially scrubs, butters, and balms). Close containers tightly after each use. If a product develops an unusual smell, visible mold, or a change that seems “off,” discontinue use.

  5. Essential Oils + Sensitive Skin

Essential oils are powerful and may not be suitable for everyone, especially very sensitive skin. If you’re fragrance-sensitive, choose unscented options when available. Some citrus essential oils can increase sun sensitivity, so if your product contains citrus oils, avoid direct sun exposure on the applied area for 12–24 hours.

  6. Bath + Shower Products Safety

Bath bombs, salts, and soaks should be used with caution if you’re prone to irritation or have very sensitive skin. Avoid use on open cuts, and be mindful that tubs can become slippery. Shower steamers are not bath bombs and are not meant for direct skin contact — place on the shower floor away from the direct stream (or on a ledge) so the steam can activate the aroma, and use in a well-ventilated space.

  7. Scrubs and Exfoliants

Scrubs should feel like a soft polish, not sandpaper. Use gentle pressure and avoid over-exfoliating. Do not use on broken, irritated, or freshly shaved skin. Use on the face only if the product is clearly labeled as facial-safe.

  8. Soap Care Tips (Make Your Bars Last Longer)

Handmade soap lasts longer when it can fully dry between uses. Keep your bar on a well-draining soap dish and out of standing water. Natural colorants and botanicals may create slight differences from bar to bar — this is normal.

  9. Home Products Safety (Candles + Room Products)

Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep candles away from children, pets, drafts, and anything flammable. Burn on a heat-safe surface, trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each burn, and stop burning when 1/2 inch of wax remains. If you use room or body sprays (when applicable), avoid eyes and mucous membranes, do not spray directly on the face, and keep away from flame/heat sources. Keep all home products out of reach of children and pets.

  10. A Gentle Reminder

GlōTerrapy products are created to support everyday self-care rituals — not to replace medical care. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or nursing, or are purchasing for a child, we recommend checking with a qualified healthcare professional before use.
